CINEMA ONE FESTIVAL NOV. 24 to 26


The 2006 Cinema One festival of digital films will be held on November 24 to 26 at Cinema 8 (Indie Sine Theater) of Robinson’s Galleria. Awarding ceremonies will cap the third and last day of the festival, scheduled at the Teatrino at the Greenhills shopping complex.

ABS-CBN granted a P700,000 production budget for each of the seven entries.

The seven entries are:

--Huling Balyan ng Buhi (The Last Priestess of Life), directed by Sherad Anthony Sanchez, starring Bembol Roco and Davao City-based thespians. The film deals with a tribal sub-culture in Mindanao.

--Metlogs, directed by Cris Pablo, starring Paolo Ballesteros, Tyron Perez, Marky Lopez, K Brosas and Chocoleit. This is a film about the misadventures of three promdis lost in the big, bad metropolis.

--Pandango, directed by Ruelo Lozendo, Wilfredo Galila and Dennis Impalmado, starring Chin-Chin Gutierrez and Raymond Bagatsing. This is
a family drama.

--Raket ni Nanay, directed by Lawrence Fajardo and written by Jim Flores, starring Mark Gil and Sarsi Emmanuel. This film is all abput a female artist model.

--Rekados, directed by Paolo Herras, starring Eula Valdez & Meryl Soriano. The film portrays four intertwining stories set in a carinderia.

--Rome and Juliet, directed by Connie Macatuno, starring Andrea del Rosario, Mylene Dizon, Rafael Roselle and Mike Palanca. This is an unlikely romance between a bride and a lady wedding planner.

--Seroks, directed by Ed Lejano and written by Lejano and Iye Candelaria, and starring Juliana Palermo and Lauren Novero (the lovers in Kaleldo), Alachris Gatura and Neil Ryan Sese. This is a psychological thriller centering on a femme fatale.
