FILMS INVITED TO CROATIA, SLOVAKIA FILMFESTS
Organizers
of several film and cultural festivals
in Croatia and Slovakia are inviting Filipino
filmmakers and cultural groups to participate
in four specialized international festivals
scheduled for July and August this year.
The invitation was coursed
thru Meynardo Montealegre, Philippine
charge d’Affaires in Vienna, Austria.
Ambeth Ocampo, chairman of the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA)
forwarded the invitation to Film Academy
of the Philippines Director General Leo
G. Martinez.
The deadline for the submission
of entries is January 31, 2007.
The four festivals are the
following:
--The Motovum Film Festival.
This filmfest will feature independent
films and films produced in “smaller
countries”. It is a five-day marathon
filmfest with continuous screenings (night
screenings to be held outdoors). This
has acquired a reputation as one of the
favorite festivals in this European region.

--Pula Film Festival. The
oldest film festival in Croatia, this
filmfest’s competitive section will
include Croatian film productions, exhibitions,
and retrospectives. Another section will
feature experimental, short films and
documentary films, both Croatian and international.

--2007 Dubrovnik Summer
Festival. This is an international festival
of music, theater and dance. Performances
and shows will be held in open-air arenas.

The three Croatian festivals
will be held from July 10 to August 25,
2007.
--14th International Folklore
Festival. This will be held in Dubnica
and Vahom, Slovakia from August 24-26,
2007. Travel expenses to Slovakia shall
be borne by the participants. But other
incidental expenses shall be covered by
the organizing committees, including accommodation,
full board and lodging, airport bus services
from airports of arrival (Bratislava or
Vienna), and back and forth transport
to other places of performances during
