JUNE 18 DEADLINE FOR SECOND BATCH OF 2007 MMFFP ENTRIES


The executive committee of the 2007 Metro Manila Film Festival is reminding producers that they have up to Monday, June 18, to submit entries for the second batch of festival films. Films that will qualifiy for
the second batch will start showing on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2008.

The screening committee has already announced last Friday, June 8,
the six winning screenplays which qualified as the first batch of films which will be shown at the beginning of the filmfest on December 25.

The annoucement of the qualified entries was held at the Wack Golf and Country Club clubhouse and was attended by members of the screening committee and the producers.

The six winning entries were:

Resiklo of Imus Productions Inc., starring Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. and Roxanne Guinoo, directed by Mark Javier Reyes;

Bahay Kubo of MAQ Productions, starring Maricel Soriano, Jennilyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo, directed by Joel Lamangan;

Katas ng Saudi of Maverick Films Inc., starring Jinggoy Estrada and Lorna Tolentino, directed by Jose Javier Reyes;

Enteng Kabisote 4 of OctoArts Films, starring Vic Sotto and Kristine Hermosa, directed by Tony Reyes;

Shake Rattle & Roll 9 of Regal Entertainment Inc., starring Manilyn Reynes, Roxanne Guinoo and Michelle Rikks in Christmas Tree episode, directed by Topel Lee/ Erich Gonzales, Patrick Garcia and John Pratts in Bangungot episode, directed by Mike Tuviera/ Nash Aguas and Matt Evans in Last Full Show episode, directed by Paul Daza.

Sakal, Sakali, Saklolo of Star Cinema-ABS-CBN, starring Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, directed by Jose Javier Reyes.

Last year, the Metro Filmfest started showing nine films simultaneously on Christmas Day. There was an obvious decline in the box-office during the second week of the filmfest starting on New Year’s Day. This was the main reason that the executive committee decided to break up the films into two batches.

The 2007 MMFFP executive committee is hereby reminding producers of these pertinent deadlines and dates:

June 18 (Mon), 5 p.m.—Deadline for the submission of notarized application forms and screenplays for the 2nd batch

June 18 to June 28—Reading and selection of all the screenplays submitted for the 2nd batch

June 28 (Thur)—Announcement of official entries for the 2nd batch

November 20 (Tue)—Deadline of submission of trailers of official entries.

December 3 (Mon)—Deadline of submission of finished film entries of the 1st batch (Dec. 25 showing).

December 10 (Mon)—Deadline of submission of finished film entries of the 2nd batch (Jan.1 showing).

Deadline of submission of graded (timed) prints of entries for the 1st batch.

December 17 (Mon)—Deadline of submission of graded (timed) prints of entries for the 2nd batch.

Submission of joint certfications with laboratories concerned that prints needed to service the theaters assigned to them shall be made available on time.

Submission of changes in the filmography charts, such as names of the leading performers and film genres.

December 17-21—Screening of the official entries by the Board of Jurors.

December 24—Parade of Stars in Metro Manila.

December 25, 2007 to January 7, 2008—Showing of official entries with first batch opening on Dec. 25 and second batch opening on January 1.

January 4, 2008—2007 MMFF-P awards night.
