CITERS’
SELECTIONS BEING TABULATED
Five
groups of citers have submitted their
individual selections for possible
nominees in the 25th or silver anniversary
version of the Luna Awards.
These included the categories
for best direction, screenplay, cinematography,
editing and musical score. An acounting
firm is now in the process of trimming
these lists to at least 10 to as much
as 15 choices which will be further
finalized into five nominees by the
nominators.
Actors’ guild
citers are still in the process of
reviewing some films to make their
selection in four performance categories—best
actor and best actress, and best supporting
actor and best supporting actress.
The citers wrapped up
last June 8 their review of 28 films
rated by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
The FAP citers had gone
through 14 screening days, starting
last May 7, wherein five citers chalked
up a perfect attendance.
The five citers who
attended all the previous 14 screening
days were: Jun Rasca and Ramon Marcelino,
both cinematographers; editor Cielito
Santillan; Gladys Villanueva and Manny
Rodriguez, both scriptwriters.
Five other citers reported
for 13 screening days. They were musical
scorers Josefino Cenizal and Pablo
Vergara; production designer John
Portugal; and scriptwriters Pablo
Gomez and Franco Deocareza.
Those who attended 12
days were Olivia Cenizal; production
designer Judy Lou Pio; and scriptwriter
Brilliant Juan. Attendees in 11 screening
days were editor Danny Gloria and
scriptwriter Pablo Libiran.
Present for 10 screening
days were cinematogaphers Arnold Alvaro,
Oscar Quirijero and Roger Estrada;
Director Felix Dalay; Ariel Reyes
and scriptwriter Jose Datiles.
All in all, 28 films
which were rated A or B by the Cinema
Evaluation Board in 2006 are eligible
for nominations for 12 categories
of the Luna awards.
The lists of cited films
are expected before the end of this
month after which the nominators will
view all films which received citations
at the boardroom of the Film Academy
of the Philippines at the OctoArts
building on Panay avenue—the
same venue used by the citers.
